The Animal Welfare Society, incorporated in 1967, is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit humane society located in Kennebunk, Maine and is a regional leader in companion animal welfare. AWS operates a progressive animal shelter and its life-saving community programs include Pets and Women to Safety, Paws in Stripes and Paws Across America while AWS’ services to the greater community include Humane Education, Training classes, spay/neuter assistance and veterinary care at the AWS Community Veterinary Clinic.

Volunteer  Requirement:

Info. on Donating Time:

14 or 15 year olds may volunteer at the shelter with a parent volunteering aside them. 16 or 17 year olds may volunteer at the shelter with a parent's consent. 18 years or older may volunteer at the shelter after submitting to a background check. There is a $20 background check fee.
