We are a home-away-from-home for families with a child receiving medical treatment. RMH Bangor provides all the comforts of home and a support system to lean on. At our House, you'll find friendly volunteers, home-cooked meals, warm beds, laundry facilities, and more. Our services relieve emotional and financial stress, allowing families to focus on their child.

How to Donate Your Time!
18 or with adult supervision
Info. on Donating Time:
We welcome all individuals 18+ or minors with adult supervision. You must be able to pass a background check. Volunteer shifts typically last three hours: 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, 3pm-6pm, 6pm-9pm. Guest Chefs typically arrive around 4:30 to prepare meals for our families. No previous experience required. We will do our best to use your talents to best serve our families.
Guest Chef: Prepare a meal for our families! Grab your friends or coworkers, provide the ingredients, and cook dinner at our House for the families staying with us to enjoy.
House Volunteers: We're always looking for friendly faces to assist with the day-to-day operations of the House! This may include answering phones, answering doors, assisting families, giving tours, cleaning rooms and common areas, and washing linens.
Maintenance Volunteers: Handy? Just like any home, our House often needs a little love. Whether fixing a dishwasher, changing lightbulbs, checking out a leaky faucet, we have plenty of miscellaneous tasks and we'd love your expertise!

What do the donations help fund?
Donations support our programs, with core programs being RMH Bangor and RMH Portland. These Houses provide affordable lodging and increase access to medical care, all while keeping families together.
All links lead to a secure off-site page for making a donation. Aside from providing a link, How to Help in Maine does not participate in the transaction in any way. Most of the charities are 501(c)(3) and therefore tax deductible.
