HOMELESS ANIMAL RESCUE TEAM OF MAINE

HART is a no kill shelter and adoption center for cats. We are a member of the American Humane Association, the American Partnership for Pets and the New England Federation of Humane Societies. HART is staffed mostly by volunteers who are dedicated to the well being of the shelter residents. We care for pets that would otherwise be out on the street, assuring their safety, health, and comfort. Our shelter building was constructed in 2004. It was custom designed for cat sheltering and offers our residents an open environment, with climbing structures and lots of comfy beds. This environment allows the cats the freedom to play, nest, and hide, as well as form bonds with one another. All of our animals receive lots of love and attention, as well as expert veterinary care.

What do the donations help fund?

HART depends on the generosity and support of people like you who believe that the animals we rescue and shelter deserve loving care in a safe, secure and healing environment. Your donations also help support our efforts to build a “community of kindness” by promoting spaying/neutering of companion animals, educating the public about responsible pet care, and promoting the humane treatment of all animals.

We are a private, mostly volunteer-run shelter and do not receive government funding of any kind, so we rely entirely on the support of individuals, businesses and foundations. HART is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all contributions are tax deductible as provided by law.

All links lead to a secure off-site page for making a donation.  Aside from providing a link, How to Help in Maine does not participate in the transaction in any way.  Most of the charities are 501(c)(3) and therefore tax deductible
